Is there any callback or calling card application for the bb? I'd like to setup a callback system where I dial in, hang up and it calls me back so I don't have to pay for the call but then it automatically dials out the number I wanted. If this can't be done is there a way to automatically enter the number when I get the dial tone from my address book instead of having to memorize the numbers?

Sure. For those familiar with callback systems present in some IP-PBX solutions like Asterisk, you can call in the PBX and immediately hang up. The system will then call you back based on your caller-id and give you a dial tone. This is great for people who have unlimited incoming calls because you will never have to pay for the calls you make. When you're given the dial tone you have to dial the number you originally wanted to dial, ie long distance/etc. I'm looking for an application that can automate this - I found some for symbian OS, where you would pick a number in your address book, it would automatically dial your PBX system, hang up, wait for call back, and when it gets it it will enter the number you originally wanted to dial. If this solution doesn't exist and I have to manually answer the call, is there a way to automatically "push" a number from my address book into the dial tone (like a calling card solution), instead of having to memorize the numbers I need to dial by heart.

We have a product that allows a callback function. It is working fine but you may have short delay on the payment. We have not completed the menu item to allow direct calling from the contact list but you can copy and paste quickly. We are doing some work on a couple other product but this will be having more work soon. We have priced it to be less than your normal minute rate for a cell phone.

the guys at s4bb have an app called berrydialer (BerryDialer by S4BB Limited) which is a calling card app to use old school calling cards (or even voip / call by call services) with the blackberry.

they also have a voip callback client for the famous jajah service which is free for download: BBCalls

if you have blackberry with a dataplan than you should be easily able to register for FREE at iTokk.mobi Home for your very own callback application for smart phones - no downloads are required at all!

Calls are always incoming so if you have an unlimited incoming call plan with your wireless provider you could be saving BIG on long distance and your local airtime minutes.

Doby, does iTokki know when I'm making local calls, because I don't want to pay both you and T-Mobile for those calls. Or do I pay you for all calls I make? I want to use it for international calls only.

Hi! You are free to use itokk.Mobi for international calls only if thats all you need.

Here in Canada, we pay $0.30-35cents/min for every local call if we go over our free monthly airtime package. So i use itokk.mobi for all my local calls too. At 5 cents a minute, its still cheaper than what my wireless provider can offer - most of our happy customers simply change their wireless plans to include a free, unlimited incoming call option.

iTokk.mobi works best if your incoming calls are all cheap or free. This way, you can make international calls at cheaper itokk.mobi rates and not pay your wireless provider for airtime too.

Register, its free to try and no downloads of any sort. The best way to see if the service suits your need is to use it! Just bookmark the iTokk.mobi login page and go to it each time you want to make a call. I know i cannot live without it now, and its saved me tons of money on my overseas calling and local airtime minutes.

I think this might be the call back option you guys are looking for (CallingCardCallbacks). I use them right now and the service is great. I can dial an access number and it plays some early media telling me to hang up and it will call me back in 10 sec. Since it is early media, I do not get charged a thing for that call as the early media takes the place of the ringing. They also have many other features for their calling cards for free.

Then I get all my long-distance calls for 3 cents per min in the US and Canada

EasyDialer supports voice callback very well. It even helps to disconnect outgoing call on some carriers that don't disconnect the call but respond with busy tone. With these carriers you may miss the callback if you don't hang up the outgoing call in time.

So you make a phone call with EasyDialer, then just wait to pick up.
