Default De-register phone

Please Login to Remove!

Just some quick questions, will my old blackberry phone be de-registered automatically if i put the sim card into another blackberry phone, also i intend to wipe and reload software which should erase all my data etc, do i need to do anything else to sell it on Ebay and will the buyer be able to use blackberry services if he or she wants to with their own sim card.

Hope you can help

Best to call you carrier and ensure the PIN is disassociated with your BIS account. Activating a new BlackBerry on your account should remove the old one, but a quick call before selling could avoid potential hassles with a buyer.

To add on to what Rambo said, if you intend to replace your old BB with a non-BB device, then you should call your carrier and ask them specifically to cancel your BIS account.

If you are replacing it with a new BB, then when you add your new IMEI and PIN to your BIS account, then the old one should be clear.

In any case, you need to wipe it to remove all the old data and apps.

Look at our FAQ for an article on Buying a BB from eBay. It is near the bottom of the list. That will give you an insight into some of the things that you need to look out for.
