When a CEO is clueless of the features of the product and basic reasons government and companies used the phone it's only a matter of time before the changes made cause big drops in sales.

high security OS changed to android the most hacked cell os
lack of apps or development of apps users desire.
low advertisement of products
loss of carrier support
release of the Alcatel designed phone used by the no contract ( TracFone and Boost Mobile) or throw away crowd.

Time will tell.

Time will tell?
They sold 400,000 phones. revenue continues to fall. Now that he has jetissioned the failed phone unit they can concentrate on software and sell the company. Which is likely what Prem Watsa wants.

It is over.

I think the time is the time it will take for us to switch to a new cell manufacturer.

As I said very poor management.

I've actually been considering picking up a Passport or Priv, so I'm a bit late to the game. I think where Blackberry messed up was not getting on board with Android much sooner than they did - Android set the standard for non Apple OS and they missed the boat. The high cost of the Priv (at least initially) coupled with providers not offering free phones anymore did not help either. From what I've read, they are not going to continue supporting the BB OS either and that's going to ice out their existing users (if they are now going to be software based, why not continue supporting the OS?). I also think them switching to supposedly being a software provider is a dud - how many companies actually use their software for security purposes? No phone provider (i.e. AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) is going to pay them money to outsource additional software to run on their phones, so I'm not sure who they are counting on exactly (again bearing in mind that I'm not too up to do date with their operations).

I'm still considering one of their phones mainly because I miss having a physical keyboard, but that's about the only reason.

Both are good phones for the users who have reasons to select one or the other.
The only issue I see is future support of the phones. If Blackberry commits to hardware and support I would suggest most who have one will stay.

Think it's the lousy CEO and his team? Other company's have gone into the dumps because of bad management.

Unfortunately, the corporate culture has ruined things like Blackberry. I can clearly say many people in the free world still like blackberry and it's products much more than any other OS. As the company has to generate profit to make its investors happy, they are losing the charm and getting pity in front of other OSs. Going to android was the worst mistake made by blackberry and they will see it after 10 years. When the whole world will be looking for something different.
