Default Bluetooth just quits??

Please Login to Remove!

Lately I've been leaving my 9700 Bluetooth on all the time, since I frequently use it with my Playbook. Yesterday I noticed the blue LED stopped flashing, and I couldn't connect via Bridge to my Playbook. I've switched everything on and off several times, done a few battery pulls with BT both activated and switched off. On my home screen I can see a faint Bluetooth symbol, but no LED, no connection.

Any ideas what's happening? Do I need to reload my OS? [sigh]...

humm.. Im not sure, I hardly use my Bluetooth. Does it turns off while you're connected to another device?
Do you have any 3rd party app that smartly control the usage of your battery?

No -- It just plain doesn't connect...doesn't even appear to be active despite being switched to 'on'. Now that I think about it, it's been acting funky for a while...several times in the last month I noticed that it wouldn't turn _off_.

This is the second Blackberry device that had a core component simply die on me. Previously it was a BB Pearl on which I couldn't be heard after the call connected. At least this time I have a full-replacement contract with Bell...I guess it wasn't a waste of money after all.

You've tried hard reset on the BlackBerry and you've restarted the PlayBook...On that scare, you might try a hard reset on the PlayBook. I understand that is done by holding down the power and up and down volume buttons simultaneously. I would try that.

Next step if necessary would be to cancel the bridge pairing between the BlackBerry and the BlackBerry handset, hard reset the BlackBerry and restart the PlayBook, and then pair them again.

And if that doesn't do it, next step I would try is delete the bridge app on the BlackBerry and reinstall again, pair the devices, and try again.

Thanks...however I am pretty sure the problem lies within the BB 9700 itself.

And... I swung by Best Buy Mobile at Chinook Mall and the guy there [name of Juan] fiddled with it and got it going. He says he didn't do anything special....just a battery pull and poking at the menu. So now I'm left with a puzzle...it may be just a case of 'the funny noise under the hood goes away in the presence of a mechanic'... I'll watch it along...with luck it will last until the 9900 is released in a month or two [or four or five or whatever...].

I also discovered at the Bell Mobility store that the no-hassle replacement warrantee I thought I was paying for simply allows me to buy a replacement handset for $150...not quite what I was told when I signed up..... I guess I really should have read the fine print in the contract rather than listening to the salesman... It will be interesting to see if the 'free upgrade' I am due will apply to new products...
