Default Another Alternative Screen Fix

Please Login to Remove!

When the Storm was released, I was was lucky to get one that did not have screen clicking problems. I couldn't fathom what people were talking about until I had an issue with my storm and had it replaced. The replacement, I immediately sent back. The second replacement was better but not perfect. I did not want to keep sending them back in hopes of getting the perfect one again.

Anyway, I loosened the screws and that seemed to have solved my problem. The click action felt a bit loose though so I went in search for something else that could be a better fix. I lurked in another Blackberry Forum and stumbled upon a post by "dmcman73" and a revision to that post by "TBacker". I went with the solution proposed by TBacker.

I tightened up the screws in my Storm and started with two pieces of electrical tape. The click action was much better and didn't feel loose. I added a third piece of tape and I believe it is almost perfect. It feels better than the original Storm that I had. I do not think I could fit a fourth piece of tape in there without bending the battery door. My Storm feels much more solid when holding it. Here is the picture that TBacker posted.

I just tried this trick and the results are amazing. I can type so much faster now. I love my storm even more. I just needed to add one piece of electrical tape and that was good enough for me. Thanks for the trick!!!!!!

I am lucky to have a nice screen (on my 5th Replacement) ... However, I have heard reports already of the quality degrading over time, so this is a nice option to have. Thank you for sharing this.

I felt like my screen was going to fall out after I dialed everything in with the screws. I took about an hour slowly loosening the screws to get it where I thought it felt good. I then gave it two days before I looked for another alternative. The screen felt too sloppy with loosened screws to me. As you have said ymmv and each fix is not a panacea for everyone.

This sounds like a good tip but unfortunately it has not solved my particular issue. Most of my screen clicks fine except for the bottom middle (space button) while on Portrait mode. I've even tried combination of the tape and screws but nothing. And of course I've tried pretty much every other tip out there.

Does anyone have any other tips that may help me?

After thinking about the pros and cons, I decided to take my chances with a new Storm. I got it last week, tweaked the left, un-stickered screw and used the tape. A week later, I am very satisfied.

How does this compare to the business card fix?
