Just on the phone with VZ getting VZ Nav turned on for the free trial. Was told there is absolutely a software update coming any day to fix the battery drain problem.

The applications number is the important one - therefore it is .65 as stated in the title, with the package version being .92 which may or may not be different than what is on the phone already.

I had hoped they would have this update out before the Thanksgiving holiday, so that my phone worked better for the people who wanted to play with it.hehe

This isn't really an "update." It's the release OS.

The good news is that one of those rumored imminent firmware updates for Verizon's Storm has just materialized -- the bad news, though, is that it's not available to the unwashed masses just yet. For now, the only way to get version 4.7.0.75 (compared to the 4.7.0.65 launch build) is to have a super on-the-ball BES admin who's pushed the update out to his / her Storm users; non-BES users are still in the dark, but we're hearing those folks (read: the overwhelming majority) should get it within a week or two. Let's hope, eh?

First I want to state the following... I wanted my Storm since I first read about it several months ago. I would not trade it for my 8830 (handed down to significant other). I was prepared to wait out any updates or fixes. I was delighted to see that it has "emerged" so quickly.

Well... FWIW... 4.7.0.75 has dramatically improved the following in my case.

1. Video camera does not lock up device after a 20 second recording. In fact I recorded an 11 minute, 31.4mb video without troubles.
2. Accelerometer seems improved... in fact I can't make mis-behave.
3. The camera seems to be much faster. While I have not ever really "tested" for this problem, I always felt that the flash on the camera was not in sync with the shutter. It now seems that the flash is in sync AND the camera seems to also be faster.

These are my observations. I look forward to others.

to the Mods... if I have placed this review in an improper location, I apologize.

Lightbulb BB Storm OS Upgrade v4.7.0.75

Installed OS Upgrade v4.7.0.75 (platform 4.0.0.94) and it improves many things including the accelerator function. There is hardly any lag (as compared to before the upgrade install) when turning from Vertical to Horizontal.

check crackberry for more information

I hooked up to DM manager today, after frustrating roaming with new .75 along with several other issues. New core app poped up. Did not even suggest going back to "prefered" .65 as earlier today... Very happy with the phone now after upgrading core apps on .94.

Default Can't update!

When I checked for updates on the Blackberry AND Verizon websites, both stated that I had the latest version when I don't. I still have OS v4.7.0.65 (Plataforma 4.0.0.82). I have the device manager on my computer already, but no updates were found! Please help!

They were back-ordered at LetsTalk.com so I just received mine yesterday (12-02-2008) and they had not updated the OS; it had 4.7.0.65. Thanks for the link. Does wonders for responsiveness.

Sorry for the double-post but I only now realized that the other sticky thread with a similar name is not the one people are now using.

Use the following link in Internet Explorer. It must be IE, not Firefox as this page has ActiveX which doesn't work on Firefox.

BlackBerry - Engage an even more powerful BlackBerry Storm

Click the big "Update button. Sit back and let it happen. 73

Well, I followed the link in the preceeding thread, and I did get a new version of the App Loader. It then proceeded to check my device, and gave me the notification that I'm running the most current software (V4.7.0.65). So, no update for me.

Today my phone rebooted about 10 times. I waited for a BlackBerry touchscreen because I need the reliablility of a BlackBerry for my business. Not only is this phone going back, but BlackBerry has lost a customer for life. (I'll keep my 8700G as a backup for a GSM system phone, and probably go back to T-Mobile for a Google phone. As much as I hate Google, I haven't heard of their phones rebooting constantly...)

I'm confused - attempted what you said above but when the DM came up and looked at my device it said i was already running the current app .65...so what's the deal? I guess I'll just have to wait for it to come out for REAL...I can't wait for the upgrade considering so many people are having positive comments about how well it's working. Thanks for the info about using IE vice FireFox.

I tried to update my phone using this link, and I get the application loader to come up, but when it is doing it's thing it tells me a fatal error has occurred and tells me to try again.

Any idea what is going on?
