Unhappy Problem Reloading OS6 to 9700

Please Login to Remove!

I've already installed the device software on my PC

and the application loader wizard is able to detect my connection because my PIN shows up.. but the problem is that

I get this message.. "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless provider or system administrator." and i'm forced to click on CANCEL..

I'm sure I've downloaded the proper os for my 9700 because I downloaded it from the STICKY on this forum..

I'm terribly distraught. as I'm left without any OS.. it says here Reload Software:507

Did you follow the instructions in the sticky thread? Did you delete the vendor.xml file? Are you using Desktop Manager or Loader.exe to install the OS?

i did.. i deleted the vendor.xml file and I have been using the Loader.exe :(

i've even tried downloading os5 and tried to install it, but I still get the same response "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless provider or system administrator."

On the newer device OS versions, there are two vendor.xml files.

Open the Command Prompt on your computer. (Type CMD in the Run box.)
Type in this command. dir /a /s C:\Vendor.xml
Note the location(s) of the file(s) and then delete them.

@devnull... i downloaded the version for 9700.. both os6 and os5. i downloaded os5 in the hopes of being able to load os5 if in case anything wrong happens..

@motorcycle mama.. i tried doing what you did and have deleted the other vendor.xml but it still didn't work...

and then i get a message that says BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot communicate with the connected device whenever i use the Desktop Software.. but on the other hand.. the Device Manager recognizes my BB phone.. it says there Connected Devices: Device: BlackBerry Bold 9700
