What are most folks using for an RSS reader?

I Like PocketDay, but I just want a stand-alone RSS reader. Must be configurable to manage XML/RSS links.

I'm using FreeNews www.freerangeinc.com ... there is a $20/yr subscription fee but I've found that it works a bit better the the others so it's well worth it. You can try it out for free for a week, which is what I did before I purchased it.

Another vote for FreeNews. Nice solid client for the BB and feeds can be searched and configured through their web site.

I use Pocket DAy but prefer the NEWSCLIP RSS Reader because it gives you a full screen to read rather than having to move down a line at a time with PockedDay. Other than that, PocketDay is a killer app.

To be honest, I haven't been satisfied with any of the readers on the market. Most of them do not download the entire summary, prompting you to open a few stories you wouldn't otherwise download, and almost all of them link to full web pages that take forever to download and render. FreeNews handles this better than most with its text server, but its price point is too high for my needs at $20/yr, and I don't much care for other aspects of its interface.

After experimenting with the various standalone readers, I've gone back to Berry Bloglines, which has gotten better and speedier now that the full text links are run through Skweezer. Although I would love for it to download feeds like a standalone, I find that Berry Bloglines is actually more efficient than its software alternatives, and offers a richer experience to boot. But hey, that's not a knock on the developers out there; they're obviously meeting the wants/needs of many users, and OS4 is still quite new. I'm just sharing what I'd like to see, and what's currently getting the job done for my peculiar preferences.

Bloglines works well for me. Tried Litefeeds, but would not allow me to import my opml file, and the it really takes to long to receive the feeds.

Thumbs up

Another vote for Berry Bloglines. I paid for Newsclip, which has slowed to a crawl and become very unreliable. Litefeeds was cute but not practical for my needs. Bloglines is well-designed, effortless, and quick. So far, so good. And it's free, too.

soapm, just point your browser to, and bookmark, http://www.thebogles.com/showfeeds.py.

If you like, you can also download the launcher OTA at http://www.thebogles.com/berrybloglines.jad

But I should point out that Berry Bloglines is basically a BB interface for Bloglines -- you'll need to set up a Bloglines account at http://www.bloglines.com before you can use it.
