Hey all. New to the forum. I am actually on my second Blackberry. The first one which was lost/stolen was a 8700 (AT&T/Cingular). Is there anyway of tracking a blackberry with either its PIN or other device number? And or is there anyway the carrier can provide tracking for the device? This way, if something were to happen to my current Blackberry (8300) I would know where to go to see if I can tracking it down. Thanks.
Not sure with your old one far as tracking. Think that's only possible with gps enabled phones.

Hm, so I guess it can be considered a lost cause. I know that with AT&T/T-Mobile that people can basically swap sim cards and have the device working, so with someone else's sim card in my decive its untrackable?
I went a week without a blackberry and FULLY understand why they call it a "crackberry" now, lol.
GetItBack works well for a lost Berry, and would help in the case of a stolen Berry, but my feeling is once its stolen you are statistically out of luck. Very small chance you will get it back.
Also, if you have on board GPS, you can get the last location on a map. This is an added feature for on board GPS, but as MBW stated, not a requirement.
I run GetItBack on BIS. While I hope it's never needed, I'd have better chance at getting it back with GetItBack than without.
A few months ago a friend of mine lost his cellphone. As it turns out it dropped out of his pocket and was laying in the street by the curb. A teenager happened to find it. The girl's father called my friend and it was returned. It was that incident that made me realize that for a small investment I'd have a bit more protection in case it's lost.
