Question A option to not show previous sms msg's?

Is there a way to have the blackberry not load all the previous SMS messages previously sent when you open a new one? I like to keep them all, but its slowing down the time it takes to open.

From Options, SMS Text, Set "Number of Previous Items" to 0.
