Hey, motorogers, welcome to the Forums.

You don't describe much use, you should be ok under 30mb.

2. Can't say, but not much, honestly. It is basically a text based app, unless you start transferring files and data or pictures over BBM.

3. Again, hard to say how data it uses.

It is really impossible to answer those questions, including about the mapping--I don't know of anyone who has measured those apps. Suffice it to say, any of the mapping uses a good deal of data downloading the maps.

You will need to simply use the BB over about a 3 month period to monitor your data usage.

Honestly, I am a moderate to heavy data user on the BB, and hit just under 30mb most months.

I think you will be fine with a little wap browsing, images off and some mapping use.

oooh, I must have:

-JiveTalk for chat/IM (pay, trial allowed)
-MyAlarm for multi alarm settings (free)
-Beyond411 (***** five stars) (free)
-BBWeather (free)
-BBAlerts (pay)
-Telenav (pay)

and several others, less than must have

Look in the Aftermarket Software section for info on all those above, as well in our sister FAQ site (link below) scroll down to Third Party Applications.

Well if your like a avg user as per day xxx amt of time on same sites, I believe most carriers off a way to check current estimate data usage. Just to be careful, check up on your bill for usage maybe weekly so you get an idea about how much you use. Anyway I hope this help and welcome
Kinda find it weird a bb don't track data usage but does voice calls.

No data counter on any carrier I know of... other than my bill each month it will state my data usage. That is a good idea for some friendly developer out there--hint hint.

@zero, in Aftermarket, there is a good long thread about it. You probably overlooked it.

Hey quick newb question I know compression on blackberry is good but is it even better with opera mini? Or is it not worth to have it? I'm assuming its double compression because to rim server then to opera then to berry?

I like the opera browser. It loads faster and it does compress everything better. You may have to get used to expanding any menus that the website you are going to has. Just click on the plus sign and expand the full menu. After that it works pretty well.
