Question This is so annoying!!

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone please tell me why I need to constantly turn the radio off and back on to get my blackberry to work? This is the second 8830 I've had and the reason I took the first one back was for this reason. I can't say I love the 8830 and I'm a blackberry lifer. Please help!

Are you using the latest OS for the device?

I'm using whatever OS came installed on the blackberry at the time of purchase. But, could it really be a calendar issue that is causing me to have to do this?

Check the OS version by going to Options > About. If it is less than the OS mentioned in the thread John mentioned, I would recommened upgrading.

Why do you think it could be a calendar issue causing this?

If you expect help, it would in turn be helpful (and simply polite) to look up your OS when asked, so that person can help you--or ask how to do so.

Likely, if you are experiencing this with two in a row, you are having a signal issue at your location, office building, home, etc., and this will be a carrier problem to resolve.

sorry, i was driving at the time i wrote that last message. i just checked now and yes it is a older OS version i have on there. i have had the 7250 and the 8703e before the 8830 and haven't experienced any problems like this in the past. i'll try the OS upgrade and hopefully that will work.

You need to call your carrier, if that is Telus, or whomever you purchased your 8830 from. I am still curious why you think this might be a calendar issue.

oh just the link i was given above was for a patch that fixed a calendar problem. i'm very limited in my computer tech knowledge, so all these new OS upgrades and deleting blackberry.alx files before step one type things, i have a hard time following. i was hoping my problem could be fixed by a simple solution. you say call my provider and they should have a new OS upgrade?

Read the thread I linked a little closer. It is for an updated OS for CDMA 8830's. There is also a link in that first post for the Calendar patch if you're just having calendar issues and don't want to update the entire OS.

Sorry onetimeuse, I thought you had Verizon service and you thought you had to call a particular Verizon number to get the upgrade! I missed the fact that you are on Telus.
