Default Newbie Needs Help With 8330 Pic Email Speed

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, folks...here's the deal...i just landed a job where i will need to take up to 400 pics a day using my cell phone and email them, one at a time i think. Speed is of the essence. My sprint blackberry 8330 takes a nice photo, but only holds a few photos in it's memory. In addition, emailing a photo from it takes about 3 minutes to go through. I have to make it faster. I need the memory bigger and I need the email speeds faster. Would love to figure out a way to do it with this phone, if possible. If not, need tips on what to upgrade to that won't cost a fortume. Doesn't have to be a BB. Sprint says that I'm due for an upgrade but I don't know even what specs to ask for so that I know it will email quickly.

Anyway, if anyone can help, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

There's nothing you can do with such an older device except change the picture quality in the camera to a lower resolution/smaller image file. No memory expansion on the 8330, and it's limited to EV-DO rev.0. That's a horrible device to use for pictures. If photos are a priority you should consider upgrading your device to something with support for memory cards and faster data connections.

The 9650 would be a good choice. The 9930 would be the best. And although I hate to steer anybody away from BlackBerry, pictures are better on some Android phones and on the iPhone.

I honestly would go with an iPhone 4S. 8MP camera and direct upload to iCloud.

Yep. That's definitely the way to go. BlackBerry was born for simple text email. Sure, it's evolved a ton in recent years, but BlackBerry's roots are in efficient and fast text emails. The iPhone was born long after that, in the middle of the digital graphics/html email revolution. And Apple nailed it. Pictures via email is pretty much the definition of the iPhone.

Thanks to both of you. Rambo, you are one of my neighbors....I live next door in Randolph.

I changed the picture quality and size but it didn't make a difference.

Here's the thing, I can't afford the phones you guys mentioned...except maybe the 9650. Looks like they go used for about $120 on c-list. I also have an upgrade available at Sprint....they have some cool new phones but don't if a blackberry is among them. Rambo, you really think that 9650 would work better.....that is, faster? I'm told that for my new gig I need to use a Blackberry.

Thanks again in advance.

The 9650 will definitely be faster. Plus you can add a memory card for storing pictures.

One of my friends as a memory card in his standard camera that also includes WIFI. Depending on your circumstances it may be an option instead of a cell phone. He downloads them to his PC and emails them all. The SD card is called Eye-Fi.

If you are going to be using it for business, I would highly encourage you to ask your employer to purchase an iPhone 4S for you. Barring that, you can write it off on your taxes as you will be using it for business and not reimbursed.

Maybe a search in the device specific section may offer some info.

Every device has different cameras. The 4S is the king of having a camera on a phone with 8MP and 1080p. If you need to use a blackberry then your best bet is the 9900 on 3G or HSDPA+. It will be the fastest.

The user is on Sprint. They will need a 9930 if they choose not to take our advice.
