Default 8830 Bluetooth DUN?

Please Login to Remove!

I have VZaccess manager already and I already pay the $15/month for tethering. I just got a bluetooth laptop (XP) and am wondering if I can tether using bluetooth? I can't seem to figure out how.

Also can I sync contacts via bluetooth?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

1. Pair your 8830 with your laptop. Refer to your device manuals for pairing instructions.

2. On your laptop, under Network Connections, create a new connection - select the Connect to the Internet option. Select Set up my connection manually, then select Connect using a dial-up modem

3. Click next and you should see an option "Standard Modem over Bluetooth link. Select this and fill in the rest of the login info for your service provider.

I'm using a different provider so can't help you there. But that's the general set up process.

Hope that helps!

Today I was in Verizon and asked that exact question, and the employee (who has the 8830) said you can't use Bluetooth for internet access, just the USB.

But maybe ask someone else..
Now I have a question:

I have VZW ACCESS, but the disc is only for a PC and I have a MAC laptop and have signed up for the $15 a month extra. anyother options??

thanks guys

Best of knowledge, VZW locked out the BT functionality that your looking for .
Just another reason I left them, Crippled, No GPS as advertised orginally, and Major overcharge for data. 50 bucks a month for data ?

How in the world did you get $50 a month for data? I pay 35 for unlimited. This doens't include tether so maybe that's it, but there's no way it's $50 a month for "just data".

BTW, you can tether with a Mac, just do a search, I've seen the topic before.

I only pay $20.00 for data as I am on the 4000 minute voice plan and add blackberry unlimited for $20.00. Add $15.00 to tether, and the data portion is cheap!

Now if I could just tether with Bluetooth I would be very happy!

at the risk of sounding stupid - I assume tethered mean to use the BB was a modem when I don't have internet access?

If so - how do I make that happen? Just connect using the data USB cable?

Thanks
