According to the Blackberry web site, if you look at the specs of the 9780, it only handles wireless 802.11 b/g - no "n". Whereas the Torch specs list 802.11 b/g/n.

So the article on "product-reviews.net" is confusing to me. They say the 9780 handles "n" but that's NOT what Blackberry itself says.

No such luck. I even chatted with a sales rep online and he said there is nothing in their catalog for the Bold 9780. I knew something was up.

But I have a feeling that AT&T may be holding out for something "newer" to launch. Not sure, just a feeling. Lauching the same thing that everybody else is launching just isn't AT&T's style.

Yeah I went to two different ATT stores and both said they weren't getting the 9780. They said Tmobile is only getting it oh well I'm happy with my 9700 with OS6.

I guess in the big picture, it's only fair. AT&T has dibs on the Torch so maybe T-Mobile made a deal for the 9780.

After finding out that the 9780 doesn't have 802.11 n for wireless, just b and g, I wasn't all that excited. I was surprised that any new smartphone is coming out without 802.11 n.

What's even stranger is the Curve 3G, the AT&T version only has 256K of flash memory but has 802.11 n. The Verizon version has 512K of flash memory and doesn't have 802.11 n.

I'm getting a little tired of having to read all the super small printer before deciding on a phone.

I understand 9780 doesn't have n-gauge on WiFi but does it really makes a huge difference. I mean is it really a deal breaker? I bought a laptop with n on it and still I don't see any difference how my Craigslist page loads -

The higher speeds of wifi are only good for LAN speed access. Like PC to PC backup or downloading large files from one PC to another.

Going on the internet you will not see any differnece between N and G. You are limited to your ISP speed which in most cases is lower than your WiFi speed.

this thread is getting off topic. we have seen pics of an ATT branded 9780 so it would seem that it is coming. especially since the 9700 seems to have been discontinued

AT&T will have some kind of new BB coming out. They're giving away reconditioned 9800's with a contract renewal. They did the same thing with the 8300's a couple years ago.
