count me in too . I actually bought 2 8700c just to make sure i'd have one for a long time to come . tried the 8300 and 8800 and missed my trackwheel and 8700c so bad i went back to cingular/at&t and returned them quickly.

8300 and 8800 are great devices just not for me ... i'm an 8700 type of guy.

The new rebranded (4.2) AT&T 8700 is pretty. Looks like the Curve...but not.

When I 1st changed over to the 8100 from the 8700 I kept reaching for the track wheel... Then got the 8800 and no problems at all as I was use to the trackball....

Now I keep reaching for the trackball on the 8700....

So, what's so special about the 8700? Are there features it has that the 88xx or 83xx lacks? Were the other devices annoying in some way?

Have not tried the 83xx, the 8800 is an awesome device but I like the keyboard of the 8700 better and I am NOT a big media person. No vids or songs on the 8100 or the 8800... I also like the way the 8700 feels in the hands....

I am a basic BB kinda person, I need no frills... Email, Data, Phone... All that other stuff (camera, media ect...) is wasted on me....

I was playing with a friends 8700 last week and I realized just how much I missed it.... So walla, off to T-Mo and home a happy camper!

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Haven't used anything newer than 8700 yet, personaly. Glanced at an 8100 once but didn't even pick it up--too small for my taste, and certainly, for me, I don't want camera or card slot.

The 8700 is perfect for me: Not much bigger than the 7100 I had, but bigger display that is better quality and visible in sunlight, a QWERTY keyboard, and EDGE.

Same here. I keep thinking about upgrading but then I really have no need to. I think I will only upgrade once the 8700g breaks.

Is the keyboard different? The keys seem to be shaped the same, but the topography of the buttons seems to be different... Almost 8800-like, in the way that they seem to be raised higher at the top corner of each key... I'd like to put that keyboard on my 8700c if it'll fit... Here's a pic I got from the Premier site...

It's basically the same as it used to be. There are two different styles of keyboards for the 8700 - the older ones had more of a bevel, and the newer had a curved cutout on each key with a slightly raised corner. The rebranded one has that same cutout style with the keypad colored differently. It's definitely a very shiny silver casing which looks like it won't stain like the 7100g did.

You can use an unlocking service. I have heard that GSM PhoneSource is excellent: GSM PhoneSource - When Only The Best Will Do
