I don't understand what you are asking?

Are you using the personal server or the enterprise server (corporate)?

Wired activation only really applies for BES users. In those cases you need an account set up on the BES server and once you connect your BB it will kick off Enterprise Activation.

I have plugged in my BB and nothing has happened.

I kicked off the activation myself, added my email address and the password then activate.

I received the ETP.dat file in the inbox of my mailbox and it still timed out

any ideas?

Just to be clear... you only need to do the Enterprise Activation (wired or wireless) if you're on a BES.
If you're not using BES.. then just ignore the icon and/or hide it. It's useless to you.

If you are using BES, then have you checked with your BES administrator to see if you've been properly added to the BES?

Have you spoken to your BES Admin?

The unfortunate thing for me is that I am the BES admin.

The good thing about that is that I can tell you exactly what I have done.

In BES manager all I did was click on the server, Add User, selected my name and clicked on OK

Then I right clicked on my name, set the password, went to my BB, clicked on enterprise activation, filled in the details, clicked on activate, received an email with an ETP.dat file in my mailbox and that was the end of that.

Are you trying to do a wired activation or a wireless activation?

For wired, you don't do the enterprise activation part - log in using your regular account, make sure you have outlook/notes configured properly, ensure DM sees your device (does it say 'connected' at the bottom), go to email settings - make sure your PIN is recognized on the General tab. Go to the security tab, change to Generate keys manually, and click the Generate button.
