HOWTO: Use BlackBerry on Generic NON-BlackBerry Data Plan
People who only want SMS and JiveTalk/Opera Mini can work with a $5 Rogers non-BlackBerry plan, instead of a $40 Rogers BlackBerry plan. This practice of using non-BlackBerry plans on consumer BlackBerries starting to get popular in certain non-business circles in certain countries, for excellent QWERTY keyboard texting/chatting/generic 3rd party app data...

I understand the need for some users to be able to use a Blackberry without a BlackBerry Data Plan... but that not exactly appropriate for the question that was asked here.
This user has a BES, and wants to continue to use it for
Intranet purposes... meaning they need MDS. BES will absolutely require the BlackBerry Data Plan.
Basically, they want BES without e-mail. This does exist (BES for MDS Services?) but I don't think that's what this user has. They apparently have some type of messaging platform that they wish to disable while keeping MDS enabled.
Unless I misunderstood this users intentions... which is entirely possible...
