My friend has a 8700 and I am having problems adjusting the ringer volume. She has the 'Loud' profile active and the ringer volume is set to HIGH for in-holster and out of holster. When we preview a ring tone the volume is nice and high. Once the tone is selected (and is set to high) and I call the phone, it's low. Any idea what gives here?

make a call, change to speakerphone, and adjust volume to loudest setting.

It's a bug in the 8700 OS.

...and certain loads will resolve the problem. I don't recall which ones offhand though.

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME. It worked... went and adjusted the speaker phone volume and it's fine.
