So,
I am a bit lost here. tried searching and reading some but I may have overlooked it.
On February 20th, cingular will release the 8800, the all black version correct? So when will TMobile release theirs?
Thanks

It IS from a Rep, so take it with a grain of salt, but he handles fairly major accounts and in the last few years he's never said anything to me that turned out wrong - mostly cause he won't say bleep until he's really sure.
He was pretty positive they'd be out this month but not until the last week... and by 'out' he meant taking orders for immediate shipment to business customers.
If he's right, I should have one no later than March 2nd, which is great cause I'm fed up with the Pearl's not-so-suretype.

From what I have heard the T-Mo customers are going to have to wait till the Cingular exclusive or 90 days is up.
Before you get all p|ssed, remember that we HAD to wait for YOUR exclusive to end on the Pearl as so many T-Mo customers reminded us every day.
I wish that both carriers would get the phone but there is money to be made in this exclusive thing and I hope my info is wrong. From past new handset intos, I do not think so.

Yeah- it seems March/April is the time frame that's been floating around. I dunno if I want to wait that long or try and snag a Cingular version, unlock it, use it, and then sell it once the T-Mobile version comes out.

If the Tmobile version has wifi and camera, as I've heard it might, then it will be worth the wait.

Is 8820 going to be thinner than 8800?

Doubt it. Should be about the same.
8820 will be out a few months after the 8800. Give or take a few weeks.

i was going to wait for the wifi version too, since i'm on a campus also. however i read (i think in this forum) that the wifi is only for voice, not data. true?

I hope not. If it is voice and not data then I do not think the wifi is a huge plus for me.

Any color is better than the awful blue T-Mo had with the 8700, and that Cingular is going to have with the 8800. As much as I hate black phones, I'd prefer black to blue.

Lets think about this from a network perspective - how are they really going to be able prevent data but allow voice? Different applications use different ports. So the only real way they can limit this at all is if its not truly a wireless connection and they want to try to control what you do when you are wireless; which would cause a huge backlash. I am thinking that if Wifi is included and useable on the phone, there will be no restrictions as to what you can do with that connection. Its YOUR data connection, you should be able to use it as you desire. They already will be getting paid for the use of the data/voice connections they control. Just my .02.
