This is caused by hardware limitations of Blackberry devices.

That is why you would need to hold left convenience button pressed while talking.
The half-duplex mode is not as bad as some might think. I use to have a nextel phone ages ago so I'm already use to it. For a free international call, there's no room to complain about that.

I've used this since the day I downloaded this and I must say this app is amazing. My request/s:
(1) make sure all the smileys from the desktop Skype app are included if possible (I want the handshake!) and
(2) when going through menu selections, I just want to use the letter key-presses instead of using the trackball (i.e. when on a menu screen, I can just press the C key to copy etc etc)...

I've been an iSkoot fan before I tried this and with iSkoot, you can't rename contacts which is a pain because I have two contacts with the same first name and they both use it on their Skype app--the reason why I see two Dexters while on iSkoot... Also, the ability to set up custom statuses on IM+ is the winner!

So if we can't win a code, can SHAPE hook us up with a discount?

I noticed an issue last night. When I logged on to make a voip wifi call with one of my contacts, it didn't show him as online but he was logged in right in front of my eyes. Is there a slight lag with the servers when doing this from my cell phone via wifi?

Does this application work with BES? I read that there were some issues with permissions and just wondering if it was fixed.

We need some time to summarize the results of beta testing.
I will post back in this forum in a few days.

The application works with BES, but only in callback mode for now.
The permission issues were fixed about a week ago.

Unfortunately there is no possibility to try the 4.x version of the application now. But you will get free 7 days of fully functional trial after IM+ for Skype 4 is released (if you haven't used IM+ for Skype on your Blackberry before).

Hope the beta testing went well for you guys! Two weeks from beta to actual release says that the beta was quite well put together!

I played with it a little bit and was quite impressed with the voice quality. Using the side button isn't that bad at all for talking, it's a small nuisance in light of the fact that there is currently no other actual VOIP capable app on the BB.

Thanks for the chance to be a tester!

I'm getting v.3.3.0 from the download link. My previous version was 3.3.3

EDIT: Another link on their site has 4.0. Took a million years to start on my phone.

Yes finally, but real voip only when connected via WiFi, and conversations are "half-duplex" - that is, push-to-talk, not a regular phone call. I can't wait to try it!
