Default Iphone 3GS to 9700....do I need to change data plans?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm thinking about getting the 9700 as the main phone and 3GS as secondary phone. Do I need to sign up for BB plan if I'm on BES or do I just buy the phone outright and put the SIM from my Iphone to the 9700? Thanks

You'll need a BB plan that support BES for the 9700 to work properly (email, etc). BB plans and iPhone plans are different.

And if you are not on BES you will need a BB Personal data plan, a.k.a. BIS, to get the most out of the device, email, BBM,Facebook, BB browser, etc.

Thanks for the replies....is it possible to keep both the Iphone plan and get a BES plan? I don't use BIS and I'd like to keep my Iphone for weekend use, so I'd just swap sims.

thanks

It is pain full to do that, everytime you decide to switch you got to call in and change the plans. It is stupid.

I think the BB plan will allow you to access data on the iphone. It worked a couple of years ago.

AT&T may have changed something.

How did you change the APN. Does it match the 9700? I amy do the same thing you are doing.

Are you saying the IPhone is receiving email directed to the BB via the BES by switching the SIM? Or just using it has a phone. The BES servers I'm using validate the push email by the PIN.
If so , very interesting

What I did with the first iphone was have BES and IMAP enabled on my exchange mailbox. Now you could have BES and ActiveSync. Use BES for the BB and ActiveSync for the iPhone.

When the sim is switched. A friend of mine does the same thing with his Bold and iPod touch.

Not happening ever. RIM's servers (BIS & BES) direct traffic to a BlackBerry based on their PIN, that's why when you change devices, you need to tell the server your new PIN.
