Default Duplicate emails on Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm completely new to the Blackberry, but just bought a Blackberry Storm at the weekend.
I bought an iPhone 3G a few weeks ago but returned it because I didnt like it.

I'm IT Manager for a small business with around 100 users. At present the only mobile email users are on windows mobile devices and use activesync to synchronise with the Exchange 2007 server.

I wanted to be different, so bought a Blackberry!
I have no intention to install BES anytime soon, and was wondering the best way to get my handset syncronising with the Exchange 2007 server?

Heres where I got to so far...

I enabled my email account on the server for IMAP4 connections, opened up the relevant ports on the firewall, set up my Blackberry to connect to the server via IMAP4 and all seemed to be working. I was receiving and sending emails with no problems.
However, when I returned to the office today and opened up my Outlook client, I started receiving emails on my Blackberry twice!! It seems as though the email arriving in my mailbox triggers my blackberry, and then it happens again once outlook receives the email.

Anyone have any ideas on this?
I'm working in cached exchange mode on Exchange server 2007 SP1
Is IMAP4 the best way of doing this?

Thanks

If you have Outlook Web Access available for your Exchange server, you're better off deleting your current setup and setting up your BlackBerry through a standard BIS account.

Thanks for that... I didnt realise it would access OWA that easily.

I've set it up that way instead. Also more secure than IMAP, as I was using plain text authentication.

I dont seem to get the red asterix on the icon for my mailbox though. It just shows up on the messages icon but not the specific mailbox.

I can live with that though.
