Default Places where Blackberries don't work

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Does anyone know of a list of places or countries where Blackberries don't work? My boyfriend's boss seems to have some sixth sense of such places, and so my boyfriend ends up stuck reading work messages if both he and his boss are on holiday at the same time. I want to find out where it is safe to go on holiday free from work!

The only country which seems to have no Blackberry email coverage at all that I know of so far is the Seychelles. I have also had trouble picking up a signal in downtown Toronto of all places (although my boyfriend didn't, go figure), presumably because it was too close to the offices of one of Canada's major wireless providers, Rogers.

Many thanks.

Your boyfriend needs to tell his boss to piss off (in a nice way of course). You're on holiday, and he is NOT required to read his e-mail nor have his BlackBerry switched on.

If his boss has a problem, tell him that dc/dc said it was ok.

Depending on device/carrier, there could be several answers here.

But, TBH, your boyf needs to either stand his ground with his boss, or "forget" his charger so that BB dies. Unless it is on a BES, and the flat battery will invoke a wipe as per IT policy.

I can't remember which Central American country has no data services available - maybe Costa Rica or Guatemala.

I don't believe that the BB will work in North Korea as everything there is state controlled.

Unless he has a Bold or a Storm, it won't work at Japan and South Korea

instead of going to the middle of nowhere,
find a dead battery and before you leave replace his battery with the defective one, and if its not defective, pull out a contact on the battery,
i have a defective CS-2 battery if you want it.

Far easier. Leave the BB at home.

If we're getting to the stage where we are deliberately breaking batteries and/or finding countries with no data service, what is the POINT in taking the BB? LAWLZ.
No point having it for voice only, boss can still call.

...another social engineering issue. Vacation is vacation. Don't take the BB or restrict its usage to once a day or something.

>>> Off <<< That should do it!

I vacation in Utila, Honduras. According to Bell Canada, there is GSM phone service there (I use an 8830 WE) but no data service.
