I just got an 8800 and used it for a week before I started looking for the spell check. It is apparently not there. Not in the applications list as it is with my Curve. Talked to my BES administrator and he is puzzled, too.

Any ideas?

Not at Options, Advanced Options, or Applications. I can't think of anywhere else to look.

8800 does not have a built in spell check. I use LexSpell. Works great. BBSpell is another I think. Check the 3rd party section. Don't know if OS 4.5 adds it or not.

Can't use third party apps. Crap. that is the only reason I got this thing. Curve isn't approved to use on the BES, so I tried to be honest.

So you still have the OS 4.2. You can upgrade to 4.5 if your Admin approves.

Spell Check was added to OS 4.3 and higher. There is no 4.3 for the 8800, but you can upgrade to 4.5.0.81 (or higher) and get it. Find it here:

Nope. I am stuck with 4.2 as the last approved OS.

Your BES admin won't allow it? Too bad.. so many others have approved it for use.

Oh, it will be approved. The Sys guys just have to do what the IT people have approved.
