Default VZW 8703e battery problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I have had the VZW 8703e for the last 3 weeks and this is my 4th unit. The battery never charges past 95% and it seems to drain fairly quickly with little use. I downloaded a few themes (Dimension Today and Zen, Vodaphone Today (which I use), BB411, and Google Maps. I recently downloaded SplashPhoto and SplashID, but I think I am going to take them off because they are buggy. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? I was between this and a WM5 device and so far have been disappointed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When I got mine, I let it charge for 24 hours straight. I lose maybe 1 bar during the whole day. No battery problems whatsoever.

tobenning is right you have to give it that slow deep charge that it can only get overnight even thought the green indicator may say it is not charging it still is it drops into trickle charge to get those last few drops in

I must tell you that i just got the 8703e because my company switched to Verizon for all of us and the battery life is terrible. I'm coming off the 8700 on Cingluar and never had the battery draw down at this rate. If i recall, this is a problem with CDMA phones compared to GSM.

I'm an 8700 on Sprint and I can get 3 days on a charge so CDMA is not the culprit here. GSM and CDMA can be power hungry in poor coverage areas as the BB turns up the wattage to the maximum to maintain contact with the tower.

I know that when I'm in poor coverage areas by signal strength dBm is at like 100 - 102 and it will consume a battery within a 24 hour period or so.

Just my $.02 worth..

I've had mine for about a month.

I deep charged, and fully depleted for two full cycles to condition the battery then started using it.

I am a very heavy user but have yet to dip below two bars before I plug it in at night around midnight or so.

Are you in a rural area with bad coverage?

Thanks for the comments. I live in a full coverage EVDO area and leave it on the charger 6-9 hrs per night. Is their something else I should be doing to charge the battery?
