It's funny (or maybe sad) that this thread started today because I also received my first spam email today sent directly to my blackberry.net address and I never give out my blackberry.net address. I believe my BIS recognized it as spam because something like "**spam??" was written in the subject line. I suppose it will be easy enough to set up a filter to block them but it's too bad we have to get spam right to the Blackberry.

If you are not using your blackberry email address the easiest way to get rid of spam sent to it is to delete that address.

This is what I did as soon as I upgraded to BIS 2: deleted my blackberry address. No spam for me.

Does anyone know how to setup a spam filter on a tmo.blackberry.net email address?

I have never given out the address, but I've been getting nailed with spam for 2 weeks now - getting frustrated!!!!!

You can not. Delete your tmo.blackberry.net email address- problem solved.

Interesting. Can you set up filters on Cingular? I got a few spam e-mails directly to my Blackberry address yesterday, too. A couple people (like my sister in law in Germany) have my direct e-mail, so I would rather not delete it.

OK bear with my guys I am not a BB user but work for Sprint and have a client on the iDEN platform that has just been slammed with spam and its driving him totally crazy. He's the CEO of the company... and also the IT guy so he turned to me to see if I could help... and I now turn to you... this whole thing may be completely irrelevant since he is switching to the 8703e on the CDMA network w/ a whole new # (he's convinced that he needs to hide from the spam).

Any advice?

anyone know about this:

1) is there a way to view the headers of these spam messages on bb? because all the spam i have received so far is not even addressed to my email.

2) how do i delete blackberry.net email address in the blackberry webclient? I do not see any option there to delete it.

Answers:

1) No, no way.
2) You must upgrade to BIS 2. Ability to delete blackberry.net email address is one of new features introduced by BIS 2.

you could set up a filter to allow only messages from the few people that have your address (filter= From address "your contact" ).

I am not having spam issues on my cingular.blackberry.net yet and hope I escape the pain!

This is total bs, I have never given out my blackberry.net email address and all of a sudden I started receiving spam yesterday. Now I am getting one every couple of hours. Very annoying. Talked with T-Mobile and they don't seem to know about it.

this is getting rather pathetic that spam emails are not even addressed to my email address. just received two spam emails at 3am last night. and yes i'm on 24 hour call so the alerts woke me up.

ok, i'm not sure how do i upgrade to BIS 2, but i found a work around. i have created two filters. one to forward emails if they are sent to my secret email address, and the other not to forward if they are addressed to anything "blackberry". let's see how it goes.
