you got it on a 7250 on bell mobility? how did you do that?

I got My 7250 for $49 from Bell Mobility! But itdidnt teather, so I traded it in for a 7130e. Now Im happy!

I am running the latest build from Telus on my 7250, but I am certainly not getting an EV-DO connection. I got that download speed on my standard Bell 1X connection.

My experience is wierd. Yesterday, I called customer service three times, and got the drift that they new EXACTLY where I was coming from (blackberryforums.com), and were swatting me down with the "not available except for business/govt" denial of service. I supposed that the memo is out on this - big time.

Today I find in my service features the "EVDO ALLOWANCE: $0.00" mentioned above, and I'm like - what the ...? What does that mean? Did someone accidentally enable me? Whats up with that?

Feeling lucky, I give the Mark instructions a try - and BINGO - 1XEV.

For what its worth, I too am in NJ, and feeling pretty lucky today (that is until someone pulls the switch on the back end - as I consultant for Telecom, I know only too well that they can do that if they decide to)

Telus only have EVDO in certain areas right now and will be rolling it out in the new year. But I'm not sure what thier plans are for us 7250 users and if it'll cost any more? I've called a few times and they won't tell me.

For those of you on Verizon with the 7250 configured for EVDO, do your voice calls still go to voicemail when you are using the browser or accessing data? This has always been my concern since I don't want to be missing urgent calls while using the device for other things. When I tested the 7130e and was in EVDO areas, it seemed to prioritize the voice traffic and let the call go come through, but I never got a chance to play with an EVDO equipped 7250.

I just tested this for the very first time as a result of reading your post and I am happy to inform you that even though i was browsing, the call still came through and I was notified properly.

Thanks for the response. Have you seen any issues of losing EVDO coverage, falling back to 1x and then having to stop and restart the radio like some of the 7130e users have been dealing with? I tested the 7130e and gave it up after that problem. I was having to cycle the radio several times a day.

I wonder if that radio problem is market dependant? We're up to 6 7130s and 3 upgraded 7250s here at work here in Norfolk, VA with none having experienced that problem. (insert knockonwood.wav here)

I have never had any issues with the BB having to be reset or turned off. At home I have great EVDO all the time, at work which is in NW NJ near the PA border It fluctuates a little bit when I walk through our building sometimes being on full EVDO and sometimes dropping to 1X and that is because I am on a fringe area, but it never has caused me to reboot. And more important the service has continued throughout without any major issues.

I get DCR when I go deep into a building. It takes all of 5 seconds to turn off and back on the radio. It has happened twice in the 2 months since the upgrade.

I have to reset the radio, if not power off my 7520, at least once I week.

Nextel is iffy in the foothills and even moreso in my office. Coming in and out of signal so much in a given time seems to affect how well the radio maintains NXTL, versus NXtl.

I'm lost.

If you think 220.6 is pathetic, why switch to a GSM BlackBerry? The fastest they go is 70-135 (with bursts to 200).

Really? I guess I'll have to weight my options. I just really hate Bell, with a passion! Plus, my wife's cell is on Rogers, plus our cable, internet, and home phone. It just makes sense to go with Rogers from that perspective. What is the speed from the EDGE network?

For what it's worth, as much as I love the EvDO speeds/features on my 8130e, I'm no fan of Verizon. But I'd rather deal with my ill feelings towards them than switch to another carrier that didn't have EvDO. ;)

I am getting a pathetic 230.5 Kbps down on Verizon. I wonder if they are throttling the network or could it be a setting on the phone?

I am a bit hesitant to call their data services group as the person would tell me that I am not a business or government customer.
