Default Blackberry Crash

Please Login to Remove!

Hey there everybody:

I have a problem. I currently own a Blackberry Pearl 8100. A few days ago I decided to update the system OS to the 4.5. An error occurred during installation and the phone started to crash. I did a little research and even tried formatting the phone's memory with JL_CMDER and reinstall the OS but it didn't worked. I'm not sure if the download is damaged but I want to know if there is a solution to this. Thanks

what do you mean the phone "started to crash"? updating your OS can take a long time....mine took about an hour. white background with spinning hourglass for the majority of the time. i hope you didn't disconnect your BB from your PC during this phase thinking your phone was "crashing".....

Hi Thanks for your reply. What I mean is that an error occurred during installation and the setup finished without reinstalling the OS. Now, the only thing that the phone does is reboot every time It turns on. The phone keeps doing this for like an hour and it stops. To be more specific, when I turn on the phone, The OS verifies the security software and then it automatically turns off. Also, the red light appears every time this happens. So the OS was not successfully installed. I tried reinstalling the OS but the phone keeps doing the same thing. I will appreciate if something can be done to fix this problem. Thanks again for your reply and I hope you can understand what I mean now.

Did you add memory to it?

Remove it before upgrading OS.

What error did you receive?

Try removing your SD card if you have one in your device. See if that stops the reboots.

Thanks:

I did exactly as you said. I removed my SD card from the device and it worked perfectly. I rebooted my device a few times just to make sure it was working well and then I formatted the SD card to prevent having the same issue. The device works like brand new. It seems that it was the card all along. I didn't knew that you couldn't upgrade the device OS with the SD card on, so that must been the corruption of the installation during the process. Thanks for all your help I really appreciated. I will try to remember to remove my card next time I upgrade the device.

Welcome to the forums.

From the device - Options > Media Card > Menu key > Format Card.
