This is my third BB. It is about 18 months old. The previous one had the same issue when about the same age.
The issue is: The BB freezes and displays a small (approx 5mmx55mm) square with what appears to be a clock face with a hand moving around the dial.
The freeze can last anything from half a minute to 10 or more minutes.
Sometimes after it unfreezes, it "reboots" itself.
Sometimes it doesn't unfreeze at all and the only solution is a manual reboot---remove the battery for a minute or two.
The BB is now highly unreliable: It doesn't let call come through when frozen. I cannot be confident that I can make calls because it may freeze at any time.
This (and the earlier ones) was an expensive piece of equipment and I am disappointed that BBs seem to operate for no longer than 18 months before becoming unserviceable.
Does any one have an idea of how the issue may be resolved?
Your Curve (regardless the model) is going to have the lowest available memory of any BlackBerry, being an entry-level device.
Keep the apps to a minimum; file or delete everything you can from your Messages application; delete browsing history when possible; reboot the device daily if you have to; make sure the OS is current. These are a few of the things I do to keep my 9330 running somewhat smoothly.
