Ouch, I don't know why that could be. I'll add this to my list of reasons why I should stick with .190. It's difficult for me, I'm a compulsive early adopter. :(

could someone point me to the discussions/sources that explain the differences in these OS versions and what bberry users are looking for when they are upgrading?

You'll see some discussion here in this thread, and in the Beta section of this forum as well.

I did the upgrade Friday night from .190 but didn't use the phone until Saturday afternoon. So far, so good. GPS works with Google Maps. LiveSearch didn't work on Saturday. *shrug* But I'm not getting the annoying double SMS icon alert anymore so that's nice. I surfed a ton on the BB on Saturday and used Slacker Radio for a while on Sunday. I think another couple days will be needed to see if any other issues crop up and get a better sense of how it's performing on my Bold.

FWIW, My Bold (using .216) shows:
"GPS Data Source Device GPS"
I cannot change that even by pressing Menu and selecting "Change Option."

My .217 resets the audio volume at the beginning of every new track. This was enough to drive me backwards in time to .216. Any word on .218?

The volume thing seems to be a bug in 190 as well. Everytime you switch tracks by holding the volume up/down button to switch songs causes the volume to reset.

Luckily I use Bluetooth Stereo Headphones, so I just use that to adjust the volume instead.

I also just installed .216 (Upgraded from .190) and only changes i notice till now is more memory (around 10+ mbytes) & Wireless Upgrade option (in Advanced options menu). I've also noticed some 'instability' when on 3G. My phone often seems to 'lose' 3G signal, go to no reception and then GPRS only.. Any comments?

I got this on .190, too, and with less frequency on .216 so it seems like that's just par for the course for now. At least in my experience. *shrug*

It seems like .216 runs faster for me which is likely a result of increased memory which I also noticed. I'm pleased so far. I'll probably need to charge it again tonight so battery life is about the same.

The updated from multilanguage v216 to East Asian v216 was easy. My bold is working fine.

I only ever had 2 glitches with my Bold and they were as below

YouTube Loading over 2G/3G

Media Player Library Sorting

This OS has fixed both of the above - i am one happy chappy

Hopefully RIM won't buggar it up for all of us by changing any of the above fixes...

Problem with .216 and redirector?

I upgraded from .190 to .216 a few days ago and all my email via desktop redirector has stopped working :(

All other emails are working perfectly through the BIS server after resending the service books. The weird thing is that the Redirector (ver 3.6.0.68) is sending the emails and even shows successful connection to my BB (I verified that the PIN is mine ), the RIM network messages appear and dissappear as normal in Outlook, yet the emails never arrive on my Bold?

Anyone else experiencing this?
Any ideas?

OK. It is now working. I did two things and I'm not sure which one fixed it:

1) did a proper battery pull (I had been using the Quickpull Application but I guess it is not the same as a physical pull)
2) I plugged into the PC and started desktop manager to verify the settings (but did not perform a sync)

Just in case anybody else runs into this.

Default WiFi says not working, but it is.

Just upgraded to 216. My wi-fi icon is OFF yet wi-fi is working. In the wi-fi setup screen there is a "dash" next to the connection but it is working (the SSID is showing). I looked at my ROUTER and it shows the connection as active. IP is assigned to the BB. I am able to download using a program that requires only WI-FI and it works. If I unplug the router it stops working. I can see the data in the router is actually being transferred plus the wi-fi led on the router flashes with the download,

So wi-fi is definately working yet there is no wi-fi icon "lit" and the connection screen shows no "check". I am using WEP and my router sees it connected. I've also done a battery pull.

Very weird. So if you think your wi-fi isn't working on .216 it very well may be.
