Default GMAIL reconciliation - marking messages READ

Please Login to Remove!

When using GMAIL with BIS2, if I read my messages on the handheld, they don't get marked as READ on the server. Is this not a supported feature for gmail?

I was thinking about switching from Yahoo->GMAIL because of the unreliable delivery lag with Yahoo, but if reconciliation for READ emails doesn't work, then I'm not sure which pain I'd rather live with.

Why can't they come up with something that *just works* for BIS? Sigh....

Read/Unread messages is not supported on BIS 2.x for Gmail. It works for Yahoo and IMAP accounts I have configured. I too stopped using Yahoo because of the delays in the real-time push. But as of a few days ago it seems the delay issues have been resolved. What carrier are you using?

Verizon.

I honestly haven't paid too much attention to how quickly the messages are coming in on yahoo. Ever since BIS2, the lag would come and go, and every time I got my hopes up it would come back. It just gets frustrating when, for instance, you sign up for something online and need a quick email back - especially since there's no way to force a "pull" (if you know there's something there waiting for you). A couple times I had to log into Yahoo WebMail and forward the message I needed over to my BES or gmail account...

I'm still hopeful that they will iron out the wrinkles. My guess is this whole BIS integration with yahoo/gmail/etc. is prep work for a big push into the consumer market (i.e. Pearl). Fingers crossed!

I posted this in an older thread too. We have BES and Alltel for our provider. Would it be possible to setup a BIS for my Gmail account too? Does BIS cost?

BIS and BES can co-exist on the same BB. But you need to check with Alltel for their BIS login. No additional cost other than data usage on an unlimited data plan.

Ok sweet, I got it set up and I'm getting messages from Gmail (albeit not very quickly). But, since I'm on BES also, will reconcilliation on BIS not work? on Gmail? It doesn't seem to be anyway.

has Alltel gone to BIS 2.0 yet? if you have an inbox when signing into your BIS account the answere is no

therefore no GMail reconciliation and it polls every 15 mins - not instant delivery

That seems to be the case. Alltel is always half a year behind. Thanks guys.
