I have just joined the forum in an attempt to get some advice regarding the Blackberry Bold.
I am in the UK and need to get my Bold repaired, before sending it away I want to erase all my personal information. I cannot select 'security options' and wipe the handheld because the trackball is stuck, hence the need for repair... Is there another way to erase my personal data from this handset?
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this enquiry.
That sounds ideal... at the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is 'JDE'? do I download it to the phone, or to my computer and install the javaloader.exe program to my phone?
There are a couple of utilities on crackberry.com. One has a nice interface and is free. Make sure you take out your sim before you do the wipe. Otherwise, when it finishes, it will download your service books and someone can pop in their SIM and get your email, old and new messages.
If you can't find the utility, I think is was crackmem, crackmanager or something, PM me and I'll see if I can dig it up.
The trackball is broken?
As it it won't select or just wont scroll?
Its a very simple job to replace it with a torx screwdriver. Might be better to try it yourself?
cnn.cn has lots of parts and screwdrivers...just a thought
