thats good to hear. I agree about the notes & tasks. they need to get to that.
I actually think that when the Thunder comes out you will see Apple get a few quick fixes pushed out to get things ready for the direct comparisons.

Default reminded of other things, too

This reminds me of other stuff that is disliked and distained, e.g.,

Happy Fun Pundit: Top 10 Things I Hate About Star Trek

Maybe somewhere in the Appel/iPhone universe forum there is a thread dealing with Blackberry hatred; then again, maybe not.

Oh well.

My 2 iphone rants:

1) What? no voice dial!? hello, is cupertino NOT in california? Did they not hear about the Headset Law that was going into effect months before it's launch? WTH? Even the free phones from AT&T have it. This is just a stupid stupid oversight.

2) Better battery life..oh for that matter..A USER EXCHANGEABLE BATTERY!

::: settles down....breathes deeply and slowly :::

Have to disagree. itunes pretty much turned the tide from purchased CD to online downloads. Sure there have been others, but itunes did it best and they are still the most popular. The ipod is pretty much the defacto portable music player. Also as Windows continues to decline, we need a suitable platform to take its place and that will be OSX.

Dell was never on the verge of going out of business, Apple was and would have had Jobs not taken over.

I was close to going for an iPhone 3G. Until I read about the reception and GPS problems. I decided instead to just upgrade to a Curve.

It is nice to see a Blackberry user give a list of cons. For example, I didn't even think about the first three points, because I pretty much assumed they wouldn't be a problem. Glad I chose to skip it!

honestly the first 3 are pretty funny as
1. is incorrect, you can change the reply from the compose screen, it shows which account is set to send the email and allows you to choose to change it.
2. I have never heard that before but i will not waste the time to count how many i have on my phone but i think its over that.
3. search is always at the top of contacts and if your too lazy to top the top of the window to make it auto scroll to the top then i think its not the phone for you.
second 3. is again pretty lazy, simply pinch to shrink it back down and double tap to zoom - its pretty quick and easy.
iphone is not for everyone, same as BB.

why i am back on the blackberry (and off the iPhone 3G):

1. you can't see if you have new mail w.o unlocking the phone
2. there is no page up or top of page button.
3. no search in email
4. no cut and paste

Welcome to the World of Apple, where built in obsolescence is king. Apple care about the customer enough to hand over the £££, but not enough to provide a genuinely decent ongoing product.

Look at the iPod, which looks great on day #1, but terrible after a week's worth of being scratched. Why? Because Apple couldn't be bothered to use a harder, scratch-resistant material.

"Both Apple and Microsoft executives denied that the Microsoft investment represents a path to converging the companies' operating systems. However, they said they had agreed to work out a settlement to a long-standing dispute over whether Microsoft's Windows operating system infringes on any of Apple's patents."

"Observers say the deal, while a shot in the arm for Apple, also may help Microsoft by keeping antitrust charges at bay. Apple represents one of the only alternatives to Microsoft's Windows and the Microsoft-Intel hegemony."

from CNET, 1997. They old the stock since then but the stock would be worth over 1 billion today though. Best thing about them selling was IE was no longer bundled with Macs.
In 1998 they announced 55 million in profit for the 3rd quarter, this past quarter they announced over 1 Billion in profit ten years later. Thats a pretty strong case.

wabbit, try something other than the MS press release.

Jobs far more important to tech than Dell. Name a big innovation that Dell has brought to the market? Dell's importance is that his company helped drive down prices in my opinion.

Apple fanboys will be fanboys.
The Apple/Jobs marketing machine is the best in the business.
They should spend some of their clever marketing budget on power management to make the damn thing work more than 4-6 hours between charging.

Seriously - that is a killer.

And I guess no one at Apple uses tasks. You think it's weak on a BB, check out the Tasks application on an iPhone.
