Flash Player on the 9700
Please Login to Remove!
Hi guys,
I am thinking about gettin the bb 9700, however i have read that the internet on it isnt that good as the device doesnt have flash player and can not be installed on it. This would mean certain websites wouldnt load up?? also i have read that the device does not have full browser and instead loads up the mobile internet equivalent e.g. bb 8310 unlike the bb 9000 bold. can anyone please shed some light on this for me please

There is NO flash for Blackberry (nor iphone by the way).
As far I know, the browser is exactly the same as the 9000, in that it loads full webpages, but those that have mobile versions will load a mobile version. there is usually a link to go to the full site.

website detect what kind of browser you are using. Most websites designed are created to be view differently by multiple browsers..and when you pull up that website on your browser..it should automatically pull up the "mobile" version which is designed to better suit a mobile screen display.

Web address "Browser Identification"
While in the browser for the 9700 you can go to Options--> Browser Configuration and there will be a setting for "Browser Identification:" You can select Blackberry, Firefox, or Internet Explorer. When this is set to "Internet Explorer" or "Firefox" your browser will load the regular web page of the desired address vice the mobile version. Make sure you select "Browser Identification:" and not "Browser:" as these are two different item selections.

Oh ok. thanks for that JW. I just came across this website saying that flash 10.1 is goin to be put on mobile devices from next year. opinons on this?? Also what do u think the chances are that u could get flash player on the current blackberrys like the 9700 like a updated patch?? or do u think you that the only way to get flash player is to get a device which has already been pre loaded with it?? The links i have found is below:

To repeat - no BlackBerrys come with Flash. It doesn't exist yet for BBs. Under development - yes. But no BlackBerrys, not even the 9700, support Flash.
You can't take the browser from any other BB and out it on the 8310.

I see, so you're changing your Browser emulation. That's not using Mozilla and that will not add Flash support to the BB either.

Yes, it's been rumored for a while now and it's still under development (as stated many time in this thread).
