Just follow the OS upgrade instructions at the top of this thread. Some people have said that DM 4.7 doesn't work for OS 190, so you can use DM 4.6, which does work, or you dig into the Program Files subdirectories, find the RIM loader.exe, and use that to load the OS.

As for the differences between the ATT theme and any of the others, it is a matter of personal preference as to style. The only substantive difference I know of is that the ATT theme blocks the BB Maps icon so that you can't use BB Maps. ATT wants you to use their Navigator service which costs US $10 a month. But I don't see the advantage of BB Maps over Google maps (unless BB maps cover other countries, while Google maps don't, but that wouldn't matter with ATT when you are in the US), both of which are free and neither of which have voice directions like Navigator. An alternative to Navigator is the Garmin program, which has voice directions, and for which you pay a one time fee of $99, or else you can pay $10 a month like the ATT Navigator.

That is the full extent of my knowledge on these subjects, maybe on all subjects, if you ask my wife.

Meanwhile, because it requires so much time to re-register the 3rd party programs and get all the icons back to where they were every time I upgrade the BB OS, I think I'm going to wait for something major before upgrading from 185, unless I read something here that convinces me otherwise.

Regarding the time required to get everything back in place after an OS upgrade - I totally Agree!

What a PIA. I have 4 email addresses that I customize in my profiles, so it's an extra pain in the ass to go through the profiles and re-assign the various tones I have set for the various addresses. Gawd they need to fix this!!!

I'm running DM 4.7 and .190 wouldn't load right, I mean something loaded, but when I viewed the version it said .157 on the BB. So it clearly didn't work right with DM 4.7.

I ended up running the loader.exe just as Tom did and all went well with the install.

....but what a PITA having to re-enter everything for 3rd party apps, just such a PITA! Docs to go is a great app, but it is probably the biggest pain and second in line would be jive talk.

.185 loaded much more smoothly.

The few things I notice about .190, no WiFi connection until I resent the service books and then it takes longer than .167 or .185 to obtain a WiFi connection....that blows, and the scanning of the media card is much slower.

The "application update available" box is also a pain, because there isn't anything to update but it's saying language support is available, but when you click to update there is nothing to update.

I don't know yet, I'll give it the rest of the day to play around with, but I may be reverting back to .185.

The device crashed on me about twice.
Now with the .190 it becomes after reset/battery pull out very laggish almost unusable for about 30 minutes, when I move around the menu the cursor doesn't move smoothly but jumps and it's really difficult to select something. Everything is fine after half an hour or so... The web browser is much better in this build (the rendering) majority of my favorite sites/pages display now correctly and look better than on opera mini 4.1
I wiped the device and installed the OS again, everything seems to be running great now.

Upgraded from .185 which had unreliable BES connection and extremely poor battery life - .190 is the best so far for me 2nd after .166, BES is behaving, battery life is back to the same I had with .162

Unless I find a big issue or RIM produce an extraordinary new firmware next, this one's a keeper.

I just did the upgrade to .190 OS. I re-registered on the network, resent the service books, did a battery pull, and a soft reboot; and for some reason I cannot receive email, but I can send email from the device.

I also can't get my regular web browser only the MediaNet one. SMS, MMS, and phone calls work just fine. Anybody?

Just got off the phone with AT&T, and they're saying they have an intermittent outage that started yesterday. ETA to fix is 48 hours.

Ok...I am prepared to uninstall DTM 4.7 and load 4.6 again. I have .190 all downloaded and ready to open up to my PC desktop when it's time...and all I'm waiting for is for some feedback on whether it's really beneficial to go from the .185 version I am very happy with now...to the new .190.

I mean, it's kind of a PITA and a long wait to do if there's nothing any better with .190 than .185...ya know?

Can anybody comment?

There's nothing to wait for. Just upgrade so you have the current version of the device software.

I have noticed that there have been delays (up to 15 mins) in getting emails from my gmail account. Changed from 3G to GPRS and then the emails started to come through instantly.

Just updated to .190, and initially the OS felt quicker, smoother...and I liked it.

But...now I notice that my thumbnail pics in my picture folder won't display!! Has anybody else gotten this bug? How can it be repaired? Can it?

If this is not a fixable issue...it's back to .185 for me, and back tonight!!

Both cover some countries outside the US. I've used Google Maps with great success in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

Yeah, my WiFi isn't working either. No push email or WiFi. It's showing I'm connected, but the icon is grayed out. Might have to downgrade.

Curious, what city and state are you in? I just got off the phone with AT&T and they say that towers are down in the San Francisco area.

I do not have that bug. When I explore to my picture folder it comes up as list view but then I just hit the menu button and select View Thumbnails.

I get this too. HOWEVER, try scrolling over the thumbnails. When I scroll, it populates all of the thumbnails.

Just downgraded again to .185...and all is well!!

For those of you who do not experience this bug, or any other...consider yourself lucky. For my money, .185 is a much more stable version.

You need to resend the service books. Again, you have to resend the service books!
