Obviosuly whilst doing this upgrade my Blackberry Bold would be unusable, e.g. I wouldn;t be able to take or make any calls.

If I was to put my sim card back into my old Nokia phone whilst doing this upgrade on the Bold, would that in any way effect or mess up the upgrade?

Hi:

I am on Rogers, and I tried the .167 out. I didn't like it. It is much slower at displaying photos, and felt somewhat 'boggy' as in brief hourglass in loading up stuff that should have been instant.

I downgraded back to .162 and it feels better.

The response time of the OS matters to me more than battery life which I think isn't going to be any different with .162 anyway.

I just switched back to .162... It's definitely better for me! When I had .167 loaded, some pages I regularly go to shows up all weird... It doesn't display the page properly(some links and pics aren't there). But it's totally fine after I downgraded to .162! I'll be sticking with this one for a while...

i also had no poroblems with 162 except the batt life.....anyhow, i was trying some of the things that users r suffering and didnt find any issues with my bold.....

my pictures loaded very fast.....

videos as well...

i went to the web and things were fine....

again, i think it is just working for some and not others.......weird....

did u guys pull batt out? i think u should.......i did so and maybe thats y it is fine on my bold?

am just giving opinions so we can all learn.....

I was using .167 beta and yesterday I wipe my Bold and installed ATT release.

Everything is working fine and fast than the Beta release.

I think it's a better version than beta .167 or official .162

make sure you do not plug in phone until after all is done below.

-download OS
-install the OS (double click folder that you just downloaded and saved)
-delete vendor file
-NOW plug in phone and run BB Desktop 4.6

should prompt you to upgrade OS.

After upgrading to this version of the OS on a Rogers Bold, I encountered issues with the preloaded ringtones. There is apparently a reported bug regarding this issue. Not certain if it is limited to this version of the OS, but you can see more about the "Missing preloaded ringtone" issue here:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ustrating.html

This is the second upgraded OS I installed on this device. the first upgrade didn't seem to cause this issue. It wasn't until I upgraded to this OS that it occured. Again, not saying this version caused the issue. I have not tried to downgrade, but I have tried reloading the 298/167 OS several times with the same outcome.

The above link has a "workaround" if the issue affects you.
