Default 5 second fix for audio quality issues on Blackberry Tour

Please Login to Remove!

  1. Go to phone dialer
  2. Click Blackberry button and select "Options"
  3. Scroll down to "Enhanced Audio" and click trackball/enter
  4. Change "Automatic Volume Control" to "Enabled"

I have to say this dramatically improved the quality for me, and prevented Verizon from seeing me return this phone.

Please don't criticize me for creating a duplicate post on this matter. The other threads on this topic have veered so far off topic, you have to sift through pages and pages of random information, so I thought it best to create this "5 second" fix.

Thanks for the tip but why is there a choice in the first place? Mine is set at DISABLED and it seems to be fine. How does it improve if you set it to ENABLE?

I have no idea, just as I have no idea why RIM doesn't seem to have any quality control whatsoever. I just know this worked for me

No change for me - crappy either way.

I've messed with this, "enhance call audio" (bass/treble/off), TTY, and Bluetooth devices settings (encryption/echo control).

No dice - still sucks.

Mine was great from the beginning...

lindros2, is your problem via Bluetooth? Bluetooth sucks, always has, and seems it always will.

Out of curiosity, what is the "Automatic Volume Control" setting for those who report good audio quality out of the box? Enabled, or Disabled?

1. Go to phone dialer
2. Click Blackberry button and select "Options"
3. Scroll down to "Enhanced Audio" and click trackball/enter
4. Is this "Enabled" or "Disabled"

Interestingly enough, this option is ENABLED by default on my Curve 8330, yet disabled by default on the Tour.

Interesting. I wonder if Sprint's are enabled and VZ's are disabled. At any rate, I couldn't stand the Tour's bugs and returned the thing.

I have had my Tour since 8 AM on the day it was launched and have had no issues whatsover. It is superb and the best BlackBerry I have ever owned. Super sound, great screen, long battery life, plenty of memory, great video capability which can be emailed, I am not sure why so many folks are having so many issiues?

I guess that is why mine was enabled on the Tour as well. BES sent the setting over when I activated it.

My audio is wonderful. Best of any wireless phone of any type I have ever owned.

I just got my Tour via Verizon, and I have no Enhance Audio option that I see people talking about in the option list. Am I looking in the wrong place, or is this something that Verizon took off the menu? If so, is there a way to get it back?

I also don't see a Wireless Update option like others are talking about.

My software is v4.7.1.40

AVC enabled on my phone interfered with the Bluetooth.

Where did you look? Go to phone (green button) > options.

For Wireless update, it's device options (the little wrench), Advanced Options. Scroll down and you'll see it there.
