Default 16 people in front of me, 1.5 hour wait...

Please Login to Remove!

Dropped into the Verizon store this morning to pick up a new Tour.

Got there at 10:16. They opened at 10:00.

There were 16 people on the list in front of me and the greeter told me it would be at least 1.5 hours!

I got the feeling that few of the people were there for the Tour though. The greeter told me they had 50-60 units, so no worries.

I put my name on the list and left. I'll get some other stuff done and go back.

These cell phone stores need to figure out a better way to process customers.

Got mine!

I figured I'd go to our local store at 11AM and try my luck (I refuse to wait in line for "stuff". If i get it I get it, if not oh well). I get there at 10:59 and there were 3 people in line. From what I can tell only 1 of them wanted a Tour so I was the 2nd person.

Now I got a Storm a few months ago and used up my ne2 so I was fully prepared to pay full retail for it. When the guy pulled up my account he said "Yeah there is a slight problem. You are not eligible for the discount price" and I told him that's fine I'll pay full retail. He said "I'll be right back" and disappeared in the back. He comes out, goes to the manager and askes something, and came back and told me he'll give me the 2 yr contract price ($199). I was like "Come again?" and he said he can cut me a deal. I asked him about it later and basically he said each store as the discretion to give people breaks like that. 20 minutes later I walked out the store with my new Tour.

I don't know if this matters. I've been on VZW since 2001 and I've got a 17% corp discount.

So basically I got a Storm in Feb/March at their special sales price, and I got my Tour at the 2yr contract price too. My contract date resets again starting today but I'm not complaining

This is at a NorCal store not too far south of San Francisco. The CSR said they have abotu 40 in stock

Thanks. I was surprised they gave me a deal without asking, especially after I said I was willing to pay full retail.

So far so good. The keys feels good but the keyboard is too small (I have big hands and I miss the 8703e keys that are well spaced.

Phone feels pretty solid, unlike the 8830 that (to me) felt really plastic-y

The screen is beautiful like the Storm. I opted for the privacy filter since it has some thickness to it. Also got the silicone cover since they didn't have any hard cover on hand

All I've done at this point is to come home and activate BES on it. Havne't played with the media much. The demo video is looks sharp. There are small openings on the top left side for the speaker and it is pretty darn loud. If I had to guess it is as loud as my old Storm.

hmm not sure what else to say. All the other gadget sites covered everything in the reviews. I guess my only issue is the keyboard being a lil small. If I had to pay full retail for this phone I would've been ok with it, but since I got the contract price for it I'm pretty happy.

Give the keyboard some time.
When I moved from the 8700c over to the 8830, the keys were much closer together. It took a couple of weeks to adjust but I ended up liking the 8830 keyboard better after getting used to it.

Yes phone feels more solid than the 8830. By the way my salesperson reworked my contract and from next month onwards I will end up with another 125 telephone minutes a month and $15 a month less than I am paying now, and he offered to do this!

Yeah. It was $270 pre-rebate price plus the tax onthe full retail price plus the accessories. I ended up paying over $300.

Beats paying $500 though.

Got mine for $99! Was 5th in line at 1030 (store opened at 11). Have no idea why the guy gave it to me at this price. Ive had this line for 4 months (through my company). We have a HUGE account with VZW (about 50k a month). THats the only reason I can guess. I just said thanks a lot and didnt ask questions!

With my NE2, I walked out with the phone and a silicon skin for $200 after tax. I've got the rebate form in my To Do bin on my desk for another $70 back. Woohoo!

The store I went to only got 10 in stock, and I bought #6. At noon. Lucky me!

I was very satisfied today as well.

The rep said 30 people were waiting at the door for the opening, and that they opened about 10 minutes early to get going with them. She said it took from then (10) until almost 2 pm to get all of the new buyers set up.

I was there about 4:30 and was the only person in the store. She said they had quite a few left in stock.

I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I asked them to activate only, since I needed to get it activated on BES. (set my password before I left for the store and had it done before I got home) (yes, while driving! )
