Default how to add numbers to an existing contact

Please Login to Remove!

I have a friend's cell number saved.

If they now call me from their home number, how do I save that under the existing contact? I'm only getting the option to save the home number under a new contact for some reason.

Did you try copying the number and pasting into the contact's information? There are several fields for phone numbers.

You should be able to add the number to an existing contact. Highlight the number in the call list, press the menu key, and then press "add to contacts". Then you should get the option to create new contact, or add to existing contact.

That works fine. Its just more work than it should be.

Yes that's what I would assume is the way to do it. I followed you up to "Add to Contacts" but after that it just automatically opens a new contact and puts the cursor in the First Name field, with the phone number already filled in.

Btw whenever I add a new number its always defaulted to work number, while 90% of the time I'm adding a cell. Is there some way to change the default?

OS 7 allows you to add a number to an existing contact. OS 6 does not. There is an app that offers this functionality.

In OS 6, there's no way to change the default of "Work". In OS 7, you can choose the type.

To the OP: It's helpful if you include your device OS in your profile, then we can give you more accurate information for your specific device.
