Default Is there no BB Maps for/on the VZW Tour?

Please Login to Remove!

I promise I did a search, but didn't see anything. The BB came with VN loaded, but I doubt I pay the $10/month to use it. I can't find it on the phone. Under options it even says that the default map is BB Maps. I'd get Google maps, but I doubt you can use the GPS like I couldn't on my 8830.

Am I missing it somewhere?

Thanks

I think it's under Downloads or Applications. It's there, but it may be buried in a folder somewhere...

Wow! I feel like an idiot. Don't know how, but I managed to hide the app folder. I put my DL and apps folders into a created folder and I guess I hid it by accident.

Edit: Today was the first time I wanted to use BB maps, so I hadn't even thought about it. If a mod wants to delete this thread.....be my guest.

GPS is not restricted on the Tour.
Google Maps will work fine with the internal GPS receiver... unlike your 8830.

Funny, my Google Maps always tells me that "GPS is temporarily unavailable" every time I try to use it... GPS works fine on BBMaps, Poynt, and WeatherBug, but GMaps can't seem to "find" it.

That's good to know. The thing I liked about Google maps over BB maps was that you could search most anything. Then I found the Poynt app that does the same and can be used through BB maps. BBmaps>menu button>Poynt from here.

Same here. Google Maps just usese the cell tower triangulation to get an approximate location.

I like BB Maps, but I also like Google maps in certain situations.

I bought the 9630 Tour. Nice..no track-ball problems yet. Two and more questions:

1a. How do you look at your GPS Lat and Long coordinates. Its great that I can get to or reverse and come back from a location (for those with really big short-term memory problems)...but I'd like to be able to ID the coordinates for recording locations. Even the IPhone does that. 1b. Can you use the Nav Maps for Garmin instead of BB maps? Say load all of the US, Canada onto the 2Gig SDCard and use it instead? If so, would Poynt use that map info instead?

2. Does anyone know of a reliable time tracking software for Blackberry. I used to use Palm's TimeCompanion by Inmotion Mobile Software Solutions...it was simple and easy, and reports could be exported to .csv files for loading into Excel.
