Default Verizon BlackBerry

I had a BlackBerry from T-Mobile for about a week, and cancelled my service and returned the BlackBerry due to poor service. That week using a BlackBerry showed me how neat, cool, and useful these little toys are, so I'm about ready to go all out.

I've been doing a lot of looking into data products, and it looks like Verizon is the best option for me, especially when you look at coverage here in Minneapolis.

From what I've read here, I'll need the 7250 to access the internet. I do have a few more questions though:

1) Using the 7250, I can do email and wireless internet right out of the box, correct?

2) What will I need for Mobile IM, and does anyone know how Verizon would charge for this?

3) Can I switch between the 10MB ($30) plan, and the Unlimited ($50) plan mid-contract without penalty? I contacted them about this, but figured I would ask here too in case someone knew.

4) Are there other providers I should look at that has good coverage in Minneapolis and throughout the country, and would be a better bang for the buck?

1. yes. just need to set up web client account and install the desktop manager
2.i use verichat. Just when word of warning: incoming call go directly to answer service if data service is active you are chatting or it is checking for new im). so i miss quit a bit of calls.

3. Typically, providers will not penalize you when upgrading your plan, even if its in mid-contract.

Thanks guys, I'll be using the BlackBerry only for data use, not voice. Also, Verizon got back to me and they indeed do not charge for changing between those 2 options.

With Verichat, or I read another one is IM+, is each message the equivalent to an SMS, or does it just use my data plan?

You might also check out EarthLink. You can have a data plan without having a voice plan. Their unlimited data plan is 39.95/month. I really like my 7250 and have been pleased with EarthLink's coverage and customer service.

Does not use SMS, I believe.

I have the 7250, and on my verizon account page, it says nothing about any sms messages ever being sent (i dont use them); and I use ramble im quite frequently.

Enjoy!

Intrigue,

You use ramble a lot. I am a newbie and just got my 7250. I installed tamble but my messages, when answered go into the messages folder with my emails rather than display in the IM box, is that normal?
