I bought the tomtom 700 assuming it would work since the 7100 has gprs and bluetooth. Looks like BB doesnt allow the bluetooth to support the protocols necessary for this link to work. There should be a software upgrade by BB, otherwise they have finally lost a loyal 3 year customer.

Hmm both of you would have saved yourself some time and money if you had searched these forums ahead of time

Bluetooth serial works (it's possible for a developer to make a Bluetooth GPS work with a Blackberry -- yes, it has been done), but it is my understanding that the application needs to be specially 'signed' by the application developer in order to be able to take advantage of Bluetooth serial. Was the application signed with the signing key? (typically costs $100)

Several of you have no idea what you are talking about ;)

The TomTom go 700 has a built in handsfree carkit. So there is no serial connection, it shoudl just be a handsfree connection.

The TomTom 700 supports PLUS services which includes traffic routing. So in order to support that, it needs to receive GPRS data from your device to support the service via Bluetooth, and I assume that is what the serial profile is for, not voice.

Default TomTom Go 700 and Blackberry 7100t

My 7100t will not connect to the TomTom Go 700 I bought. This sucks. Call TomTom customer service - (978) 287-9555 or its international numbres is 011 31 20 850 4014. I have a call into customer service tonight - hope they return it tomorrow. Also, I spoke with T-Mobile blackberry rep - not knowledgable enough on this problem

The 8700 is the first Blackberry to pair with the tomtomgo. I have it working with the TTG700.
So far handfree phone use and transfer of the address book works. I haven't tried the TTG servies yet.

How did you get it to pair? I have the same experience as others. Fails to pair after entering the TomTom code "0000".

It will work whne BB 4.1 client software is released. That's what the 8700 has, and it works there, so it's a safe bet.

That was it! I was on TomTom version 5.21. Upgrading to 5.42 allowed pairing and use of the 8700c.

Thanks!

This is not true. Mine doesn't and I just bought both 2 days ago. Called TomTom Tech support and they confirmed that BB's don't work with the unit. If you've done it you're one of the rare few if not the only one. Please bestow your knowledge upon us on how you did it?

I am humblely sorry. Mikula and Inphektion are 1000% correct. I just updated to 5.42 and it works like a charm. My apologies.

Yep...only hands free.

Upgrading the TomTom firmware is a bit obscure. Took me a few minutes to figure it out as the TomTom site isn't too good.
