The model MIGHT be inside the case under the battery. Note that if you intend to reload the OS, you need to get it from your provider.

Normally under Options (possibly under Settings or Tools) click on About. The first line should identify what model the device is.

I know you can get the PIN number on the back of the BB and RIM Support can tell you the model that you have, so you can get the proper HH code to reload the HH. You can also just download the 7230 and 7280 HH code and when you connect the BB to your computer it will only load the proper version for that handheld. (Unless you delete the xml file - but this can also harm the BB if you dont have the proper handheld code).

Cheers,
Ash

Then it is a GSM/GPRS handheld, so your carrier will be Cingular or TMO if your in the US, and Rogers if you are in CAD.

It's a BlackBerry model 6210. You can download new software for it from your carrier. Exact locations are in a sticky thread at the top of the General BlackBerry discussion forum

That's really strange since the 6210 is a BLUE model - not black.
I should have mentioned that as long as you don't alter the XML files, only the correct provider / device OS will install. If you try more than one, uninstall the first before installing the second.

In the US it was blue. Possibly black in Canada or UK/Europe. Also, it could be a 6220, which has a slightly different radio.

The 6210 and 6220 use the same software.
Here are the steps (make sure you don't miss any):

- Download the handheld OS
- Execute the program you just downloaded
- Locate and delete VENDOR.XML from your C: drive
- Start Desktop Manager
- It should try to read the software from your BB and install any newer software

Black and white.

Color screen are the 7200 series.

Could be a 7210, 7230 or 7280.
Does not make sense that it says R6220, but I don't have the BB in hand.

Here's what I suggest. Download JL_Cmder from here. When you run it, select
  • 1) deviceinfo
You'll get back a text file named DeviceInfo.txt (which is saved to your %TEMP% directory) with info like this (from an 8700c):
  • Hardware Id: 0x84000b03
  • PIN: 0x????????
  • OS Version: 0x0
  • VM Version: 0x40100c2
  • Radio ID: 0x0
  • Vendor ID: 102[/FONT]
Post it here and someone may be able to help better identify it. I can say that the Vendor ID 102 is Cingular.

One other thing. Courtesy of a Google search ( http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ackberry%2ecom), I looked through all the firmware downloads available on the Blackberry sites (some vendors like Verizon and T-Mobile host their own, but most host right from Blackberry.com). Here are the only vendors I found that had any 6200 OS downloads:
Vodafone UK
Rogers Wireless Inc.
Vodafone Netherlands
Orange UK (6230)
Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited (6230)

All Blackberry documentation starts here.

Good luck.

Since it has a color screen, it can't be a 62xx series. They were all black and white.
