Default How do I tell Water Damage to a Bold 9700

Please Login to Remove!

I am having problems with my bold so called Rogers and spent half of Saturday on the phone(and the PC by remote) with them trying to fix it. They thought I had a software problem but it wotn let me reload the software once we cleared it off. The orginal problem was the the keyboard was acting strange and I could type with extra letters for example I would type o and oi would come up. I have been having issues for a while though with it freezin gadn having to do battery pulls on it. Anyways htey are replacing my phone as it is not a year old but said if they find any water damage they will charge me, so I took the battery out to check it to be sure and there is a teeny tiny speck of pink on it, which you would miss if you look quickly and there is not a speck of any pink at all on the tag on the phone itself. Will I be ok? is even a speck of pink considered water damage??? I am oging ot take pics of it before I send it away just to have proof it isnt red just a slight speck of pink. Thanks for your help!

That's positive for moisture.
It should be absolutely white (no pink) if it remained dry.

Who would have removed the battery other than you?

The problems you are having are typical of water/moisture damage. Even a little moisture such as placing it in a high humidity area such as a bathroom, can harm an electronic device.

We too have gone through the red strip BS with 'Rogers too. Seems a bit too easy for any carrier to waive warranty due to so called "water damage". Battery had red - phone was still white. Go figure..and of course, ... we were screwed. Leaving your phone on a counter in the bathroom should not pose any issue at all..hi humidity notwithstanding. There's a great many places on this planet with a hell of a lot more humidity than a bathroom.! Not saying dubdub is wrong...just that a mobile phone should be somewhat resistant to normal environments. Saying moisture is a potential issue is like saying that you should not own a BB while in Manila or Bangkok during the monsoons.

Humididty..? my (_!_).! Seems to me those teltale strips turn red a bit too easy for my liking. A hell of a lot more profit in denying warranty than paying it out..who is not gonna buy a new phone if theirs is hooped..??

That doesn't look like water damage to me. I'd be surprised if they charged you for it. Anything is possible with these carriers, but those pics don't look like they show water damage.
