Default 32 GB SD card troubles

Please Login to Remove!

I just purchased a 32GB micro SD card for my 8530 Curve, and for the life of me I cannot get it to work. I consider myself fairly literate when it comes to computers, but nothing I've tried has been able to work.

Essentially, it goes like this. I put the card in the phone. It says the card must be formatted. If I click yes, the formatting works about 75% of the time. When that is complete, it says there are errors on the disk. When I choose repair, it shows itself as repairing for about two minutes, then most of the time the phone reboots itself!??! As soon as it comes back online, it tells me I need to format the card again. Over and over. So, I tried using my computer to format, and repair, and it still will not be accepted in my phone. I even purchased a USB card reader in case my standard card reader didn't read SDHC.

I've literally spent the last three evenings trying to get this to work. I have all the current versions in my phone. v5.0.0.654. Any suggestion out there?? Any patches or plug ins that would make this work? I primarily use my phone for and MP3 player while at work, and my 2GB card is just to small. I have never had an issue with the 2GB card ever. Works like a charm every time. The 32GB card is a brand new SanDisk. Could it be F*&^ed from the factory?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

After being formatted on the PC, is it readable on the PC?
If not, its a dodgy card and you should send it back as faulty.

Yeah, it is readable some of the times. Not always though. Its ability depends on the weather I think. LOL. So sometimes new cards don't always work properly?

Yes.
Just because its new doesn't mean it wasn't faulty when it left the factory and was missed by quality control.

Have you (or anyone) been able to get a 32GB microSD card to work on your 8530 with Koodo?

Koodo say (on the phone's box, on their website and in store) that their 8530 only supports cards up to 16GB. However, Blackberry and all other carriers state a 32GB limit. I would be surprised if the Koodo phone is different in that regard, but everything seems to be pointing to that.

Please keep us posted, as I would like to know whether I should buy a 16 or 32 GB card myself.

Thanks

Does anyone have any insight on the issue from my previous post? Is it common for the same model to have different specs from one carrier to another? Sorry for double posting, but I'm impatient to get some music on my new 8530!
