Default SIM card switching -

Please Login to Remove!

I own a 7290 - am with Tmobile and would like to know IF I purchase a Pearl or an 8800 and stay with TMobile - can I simply switch out my SIM card? Do I have to notify TMobile and if I purchase one online, should it be unlocked?
Thanks so much!

As long as the new or used Pearl, or 8800 is also a T-mobile unit you are fine. Simply switch your sim, log onto the BIS site or BES if you are using yours through work. Ad the new pin number and imei number to register the device on the network and you are all set.

If it's from another carrier such as AT&T then you must get it unlocked so that it will run on the T-Mobile service.

Hope this helps.

Default Sim card revisited...

Thanks so much - I assume when I purchase the new phone, it will give me a new pin number and imei number to register the device. By the way, what is an imei number?

IMEI: Stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity, which is a unique 15-digit serial number, assigned to every single mobile phone. It can be normally found on the back of the phone, under the battery. IMEI consists of four groups of numbers. The first group identifies the type approval code (TAC), the second - the manufacturer, the third - the serial number and the fourth is a single digit (usually 0).
