Do you have any release notes?
What is changed from the other versions?
Can I use this on an 8700?
Will this unlock every theme ever made?
When will Verizon get the 8800?

<JUST KIDDING - SORRY>.

Thanks MrKyoo for posting this; downloading now...

It will update it and not adversely impact it.
Download it.
Execute it.
Locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive
Start Desktop Manager and it will upgrade

I might go with it without the ALX file update. The reason for that is when i used the ALX file here all the rest of the themes that came with it never showed the Cingular browser. I like the orange theme and tried every thing to see why but it is no where to be found in there (not even as hidden). Will be loading it soon on the other pearle first and will see if any changes are noticed.

Deleted the vendor.xml, didn't worry about the alx...restored afterward...all is fine. Thanks!

Modifying the ALX allows the themes from other vendors to be seen.

The only difference i see so far is when i get an e mail i doesn't eat up the memory on the 8100 after i delete it so i won't have to take the battery out as much

It is easy but one needs to know all the areas to modify. Usually it is done by one of the mods for us. Now as to the updated OS, I loaded it on a Cingular pearl that only had a couple themes downloaded to it, I unchecked certain language files and checked some for financial and legal, and also removed the demo video the end result was a total memory free of 29+megs compared to the prior 14 megs. looking quickly it seems to change themes a bit faster and the back-lite reaction to light changes seems to have improved a lot more.

It would be nice to know if tethered speeds have increased. I know there was a slowdown with the Cingular version, maybe this one fixes the "glitch".

I'm downloading now. I'll have a new ALX file up and ready in a bit (if my download finishes before the U.S. Army All-American Bowl starts in 25 mins, then I'll do it before then, otherwise it'll be a few hours). To be honest, you could probably use the one from the .84 release. I'm guessing they made some fixes to the PTT application for this one. Doubtful any major changes were made to the OS... perhaps some minor fixes, though.
