Default Users on one Domino mail server not activated

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Some users who are activated on BES are not activated on their handhelds.
This happens with only one Domino server. If we move users to another Domino server there is no problem. We checked several settings and restarted the Domino server, but sofar without success. Apparently there must be a problem with the BES server trying to access maildatabases on this DOmino server. Any ideas?

If you enable users on the BES (which runs on a Domino server) and the handhelds are registered on the providers' wireless network, then the user becomes activated either by EA or wired through the DM. If you move users from one Domino mail server to the next, then if those servers are in the same Domino Named Network (DNN) and same LocalDomainServers group then their should be no problem. That's because the servers are all using the same NAB.
If the servers are in different DNNs then you'll need a connection document between that Domino server and the BES, so that the mail files can be accessed by the DBES mail agent running on the BES server. Simply do a "trace servername/organisation" (no quotes) on the BES server console to the other Domino server. If the display complains that no route found to "servername/organisation", then create the connection doc.
Have a look at the log.nsf on the BES server for access errors to the other server. Also if the servers are in different domains, then you'll need to enable Directory Assistance on the BES as well as place a replica of the Directory Assistance database on the BES server.

We had this problem on 2 servers. Turns out it was a Threads issue. We had to increase the threads and everything started working perfectly.

I will post the registry and soon as I can if it's still needed

Its very unlikely to be a thread optimization issue, especially with just 2 Mailservers and almost impossible ,going by the symptoms.

Follow Dev's suggestions, you are being led to the right direction..
Key words: Connection Docs,Cross Certs and Directory assistance

We have more than 2 mailservers involved (we have at least 10)and it was a threads issue. We bumped up the number of threads available and everything started working. Before that, 2 of the mailservers would not allow us to provision BBs on it. Now we can.
