Default Touchscreen and all buttons NOT WORKING!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all....

I pulled my storm out of my pocket and none of the buttons work. I can touch the screen and it senses my finger on the screen and will follow that around no problem, but when I push the screen down, nothing happens. Also, none of the buttons across the bottom, top, or sides work either. I tried to pull the battery, did not help. Anyone know what may have caused this or more importantly how I can fix it? Thanks in advance!

Has it been exposed to moisture?

You may wish to have a phone store check it. It does sound like moisture damage, to be sure.

Well I can assure you the phone has not been exposed to moisture. Anyone else have other possible fixes?

I have exactly the same issue with my Storm. At some point on Sunday evening, it stopped responding to input, although it still registers contact and can scroll.

At no point was it exposed to moisture, the only thing that I recall happening before it cacked itself was receiving a text message.

I have tried reinstalling, downgraiding and upgrading the software. No luck.

I've experienced a similar problem periodically.

I've heard some people say it may be due to a memory leak, but I never really have many apps running or open. The only apps that are usually running (other than the "normal" ones) are TalkLock, and BuzzMe, and Facebook every now-and-again.

It usually takes me a couple of battery pulls before the Storm calms down and start working again.

I've done countless battery pulls over the last two days, no luck. It does seem though that the green phone and 'blackberry' (whatever it's called) buttons illicit a response, but the screen still doesn't respond to clicking. As with drakkenkorin, I never have many applications open and nothing happened to it anyway. I checked the time, then 10 minutes later I checked the time again and it wasn't working.

Something like this happened once before, it became very sluggish in responding to any input. It would take up to 10 seconds to react to any input and stayed like that even after battery pulls. It righted itself in about 3-4 hours though.

The last two days have increased by towering rage with Vodafone customer support, too.

I wish I had advice to offer you, but I don't. However, I would like to point out the fact that even something as simple as having your phone sitting on the counter while you take a shower can count as being exposed to moisture. If your mirror fogs up when you shower, you definitely don't want your phone in the bathroom with you. :\

Well it might have been ambient moisture because I had it in a bag of rice overnight and it works fine now.

Weird.

Thanks for all of the responses everyone. I switched over to my pearl for a couple of days to let my storm "dry out." It has not been exposed to any "direct" moisture, but after reading all of the responses I figured it was worth a shot before going and trying to get warranty on the phone. I will update this thread later tonight when I power the phone back up.
